Water spinach is a semi-aquatic, tropical plant grown as a vegetable for its tender shoots and leaves. Its origins are unknown, but it is found throughout the tropical and subtropical regions of the world. It goes by many other names like River Spinach, Water Morning Glory, Chinese Spinach and Chinese Watercress. It features predominantly in Southeast Asian cuisines, most popularly as a stir-fried vegetable. It is very easy to grow and can be cultivated directly from the seeds or through cuttings in warm and temperate climates.
