Radish is an edible root vegetable that was domesticated in Europe in pre-Roman times. Today, it is consumed in all parts of the world, mostly raw as a crunchy salad vegetable. Radishes come in a number of varieties varying in size, flavour, colour and time to maturity. Radish originated in southeast Asia from where it spread to India, China and central Asia and then to the Americas. Radishes germinate and grow very quickly and are an ideal winter crop.
